JSOUL – BLACK SINATRA

A native of Baltimore, JSOUL truly defines the meaning of being a singer, beat maker, writer and producer. As a triple threat his sound captures the very essence of soul and hip hop that has been absent in today’s music. Taking his cues from Soul Masters past and present, has inspired him to create quality music of inspiration, pain, pleasure, life, and love with a style that emanates eclectic, funk-da-fied soul. His albums are a culmination of his last 13 years in this industry as an indie soul artist. Its with that momentum he steps into the full roll of Producer and draws from the experiences in love gained & lost, Triumphs, and failures new and old. Creating a sound that is familiar to true school soul music lovers and real hip hop listeners.
He began writing and creating music at the age of 20 with musicians who served as pillars in the Baltimore music scene and crafting what would be his signature sound. Performing live would serve as the foundation for his musical journey. In 2008 he signed with Blackout Studios and released his label debut “Love Soldier” followed by the 2010 release of “Black Sinatra” which he fully produced and featured Indie Soul Juggernauts and grammy nominated artists Eric Roberson, Natalie Stewart (Floetry) , W. In 2013 He released his first Instrumental project “Blue Symphony” as a part of a hip-hop based production series. “Being a visual artist as well i believe that Sound is just color in the sonic form, so every production represents a different vibe and paints a different picture and i named the projects according to the color i saw while making it” – JSoul
Currently he’s working on his newest self produced album the “Purple Symphony” which will include features from Label mate Substantial, up & coming baltimore mc’s GreenSpan, Eze Jackson, Mathematics and Zulu Nation/9th Wonder true school Dj Sean Armstrong. NICK EDEN

Bio:
Music is in Nick Eden’s blood. The great nephew of Jazz legend Captain John Handy has always known that music was his path. Currently working on his 4th studio release, Nick Eden hopes to continue the battle to keep honest music alive. “Nothing against what anyone else out there is doing, but I want to be more than just successful musically. I want to be significant, and I can’t do that by following trends.
I want to show the next generation of musicians that Soul/R&B has more depth to offer than whats on the pop charts.” Significant is how he cites his influences such as Sam Cooke, Brian McKnight, Otis Redding, and Boyz II Men. It was these influences that inspired Nick Eden to travel the path he has been on for so long. Along the way he has been fortunate to release 3 albums, and appear on several nationally televised shows such as BET’s Apollo Live, The Steve Harvey Project, BET’s Lens On Talent and more.
In addition to being a performer, he is also an accomplished music journalist. Having written for legendary companies like Soul Train, he is the creator of the Soul Train R&B Freshman Class List, and Soul Train Power 20. With his new project “Sole Of A Man” due in 2015, Nick Eden is going back to the roots of soul music to update the vintage sound that has captured the hearts of America since the days of Motown.

DJ MR JAY

New soul music is the future and from an early age of being involved in the world of sound systems in the early 1980’s, I was taught to play the latest songs when performing to the audience. In 2009 we brought the concept of “New Soul” to the world of podcasting and we have been produced in excess of one hundred and sixty podcasts through iTunes podcasting.
Dj Mr Jay presents “New Soul” which is a collaboration of modern day soul artists and musicians who have the vision to bring the concept of what we see as the best genre of the world, to soul music lovers using future technology.
“Dj Mr Jay Presents New Soul Vol 1” will be available on CD and digital download from May, 2015.
Not one soul artist has the power to corner the market, but as a consortium we can set the standards for the future. (Dj Mr Jay)

HARRY MINDGAME

The foundations of Harry Mindgame lay in the realm of Sound Systems where his journey began. First DJ’d at school aged 15 with borrowed equipment. The real knowledge came when he joined the ranks of Soul Incorporated Roadshow, where he was schooled in Soul, R&B, Jazz and early Hip-Hop. It was during this time he met up with the people who would take him in the direction of Hip Hop.
As an offshoot of the R&B promotions that Soul Incorporated Roadshow were doing at that time. Mr Jay (Soul Incorporated) and MindGame set about establishing HipHop shows that showcased UK talent. These were the 100% HipHop and GoGo Sessions, Parts 1 – 5 which featured MindGame under his original alias of MC Turbo C.
These sessions went on for a number of years and featured artists who later went on to be signed with major and independent labels.
Production had always featured in the live shows they put on at that time which employed the use of early samplers and the legendary TR 808 drum machine. This led to the next stage of Hip Hop Productions and remixes. Mindgame delved deep into technology which was his other interest and started the process of producing the sonic sounds and twists of his Hip Hop beats.
During this time Mindgame has continued in the club promotion game by co-producing Pure Indulgence Promotions concept which focussed on Street Soul a& Rare Groove classic music. He also produced Mind Adventures Promotions which focussed on live musicians fused with a DJ playing Deep, Tech and Soulful House. The future will see Mind Adventures Promotions developing new shows and concepts.
Experimentations with different forms of music and the urge to expand musical styles has seen Mindgame challenge the standard definitions for what is seen as Hip Hop, R&B and House. There is a need to take the music form forward with new ideas and fusing the standard expectations of Hip Hop with genre defying sounds. These are the elements that, had made Hip Hop great, and has had such a wide impact on other musical forms.
The Founder of Mindlab Recordings has been steadily refocusing his time on building up projects and collaborations. As well covering his core base of hiphop, R&B and the deeper sounds of house, he has delved in Modular Synthesis to expand his sound palette.
As member of both the House and HipHop communities as well as being a DJ that has been a R&B DJ, Harry Mindgame over the years has been fortunate to have met artists and musicians from all of these genres. Has spent a considerable amount of time promoting events that cover these musical spheres. More recently they have focussed on Deep and Soulful House where his connections on the scene run very deep.

With a slew of upcoming releases on his label and with colleagues such as JayClectic, Harry Mindgame is back doing what he loves best, Producing and remixing music
